Connaught Party 2016
Huge congratulations again to all Corribites who took part in the Connaughts 2016; from those dancing in their first Connaughts, to those doing Championships for the first time, to our more experienced dancers. Here some of the prizes picked up over the weekend- unbelievably this isn't even close to all you won. Not a bad weekends work!

Connaught Championships 2016
The Connaught Championships 2016 were held in the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe on the 4th, 5th and 6th of March. It was a hugely enjoyable weekend for the whole school. Dancers from beginners to open level danced their hearts out and tried their hardest and all of those long hours of practice really paid off. This was our most successful Connaughts to date and I am so proud of each and every dancer. I'm excited to see how you continue to build your skills and successes into the future.

Ice Bucket Challenge
I did the Ice Bucket Challenge this August, with invaluable
help for some of my dancers, who were quite happy to volunteer to throw icy water on me! This was a great opportunity to raise funds
and possibly even more importantly, to raise awareness of Motor Neuron Disease
(or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis as it is known in the States) If you
enjoyed this video please consider texting MND to 50300, to donate €2 to this
very worthy cause. I think one of the major lessons we have learned
from the success of the Ice Bucket Challenge is the amazing difference that can
be made if everybody gives just €2.
Riverdance
We had an exciting trip on 26th July 2014 to see Riverdance perform
in the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin as part of their 20th Anniversary
tour. The dancers really enjoyed meeting and being taught by
some Riverdance cast members. And even though it was arguably the hottest
day of, what was overall a very hot summer, they worked really hard and did a
great job, as always!
Summer Camp 2014
What can I say about Summer Camp 2014? We had an amazing week, lots and lots of hard work but great fun as well. Between fireflies, frogs and butterflies it was a real zoo! Thank you to all parents and children who made this year's summer camp so unforgettable! Can't wait to do it all again next year...
Claregalway Pride of Place, 23rd July 2014
Post by Nuacht Chláir. |
There was a great show of community involvement at Coláiste Bhaile Chláir today with wonderful displays from all participants in Claregalway Pride of Place . Sincere thanks to the organising committee and all involved for their hard work. The Corrib School were proud to be involved; it was great to get the chance to show off our wonderful parish! Best of luck to everyone, Baile Chláir abú!! |
Class Feis 2014
Class Feis 2014 took place in Turloughmore Social Centre on 21st June. It was a great day, with excellent dancing and lots of fun. All dancers who participated tried their hardest and I was particularly proud of all the beginners, for whom this was the first feis experience! I can't wait to watch all these dancers progress over the years and grow in their love of dance. I must extend a huge thank you to all the parents and dancers from the school for all their help and co-operation, both on the day of the feis and throughout the year. Special thanks to my hard working adjudicator and feis day helpers; Hannah, Fiona, Meave, Caoimhe and Aaron who worked hard behind the scenes all day- I couldn't have done it without you!

World Championships 2014
The World Championships 2014 took place in the INEC Killarney, which was a fantastic venue! The Championships were incredibly well run and a pleasure to attend. We have brought home many fond memories to cherish, along with some very well deserved medals! Huge congratulations to those Corribites who earned a whopping total of 16 World Medals this year! Comhghairdeas do gach duine - tada gan iarracht!
Comhghairdeas Maeve!
Freestyle 2014
Tears, tantrums, sleepless nights and lots and lots of hard work went into the Corrib School's first ever Freestyle. But overall, I will remember all the fun we had practicing and preforming this dance. Of course I'd safely say, placing 2nd at the Connaughts and 5th at the Worlds won't be forgotten either! You really did yourselves proud girls and boys; such amazing performances. Massive thank yous to everybody who helped bring this about; from the senior dancers in the school, to my own mother for her costuming expertise, to dancer's parents, especially Frances, for all their help. We couldn't do any of this without you guys and this moment belongs to you all!
Heartfelt congratulations to the first ever Corrib team to place at the Worlds, may many more follow in your footsteps.

Corrib Christmas Celebrations

We take Christmas time very seriously here, it's a great opportunity for Corribites, young and old(er!) to kick their heel up- ever high than usual- and have some fun. Christmas parties, performances, céilís and games galore!
Wishing you all the best for a jolly, jigging Christmas from all of us here at the Corrib School. |
Heartbeat of Home
We took a fun day trip to see Heartbeat of Home in the Bord Gáis Energy Theater in October. We did, of course, manage to squeeze in some shopping and play time as well. Parents and dancers all enjoyed the day thoroughly! And reminded me, once again how lucky I am to have you all in the Corrib School. It was a wonderful day that left us with great memories- and amazing inspiration from the show itself!! |
